Luke 16: 19-31- Heaven and Hell

Read Luke 16: 19- 31-   In this passage, Jesus gives us a description of the existence of heaven and hell. Verses 22 and 23 say, "(22) So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham's bosom. The rich man also died and was buried. (23) And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom."   Jesus shows us about the rich man who had the opportunity to be merciful and thoughtful of a person in bad condition, yet he did nothing. The rich man did not want anyone to suffer what he was enduring and wanted a special visit to his brothers and friends so they would accept God.  Jesus then said , "(29) Abraham said to him, 'They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear t hem."   We all have the opportunity to know the message of Jesus Christ. It is important that each person hear the message and accept Christ . This is an individual decision. We need to keep this in mind as we live our ...

Luke 12: 5-7- Value of Life

Luke 12: 5- 7-   Jesus shows in this pass age the value He places on life. There are those who want to argue about life , especially of the unborn, but Jesus gives us guidance when we are considering the importance of life. Verses 5 through 7 say, “But I will warn you whom to fear: fear him who, after he has killed, has authority to cast into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him! (6) Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. (7) Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows. ” Another mentioned in this passage is the existence of hell. Would Jesus have mentioned Hell if it was not a spiritual reality? Jesus shows us the value of life, but He also lets us know there will be a time when people will be required to face the reality of heaven and hell.   Proverbs 14 : 2 3- In all toil there is profit, but mere talk tends only to poverty.

Matthew 8: 5-13- Choosing Jesus

Read Matthew 8: 5- 13- This part of this passage of Matthew is telling me something that many are wanting to ignore today. So many people do not believe in Satan and do not believe in Hell as literal places. In this short passage, Jesus mentions a difference that will happen. In verses 11 and 12 Jesus says, “ I tell you, many will come from east and west and recline at table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven, while the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gn ashing of teeth. ” I understand why people want to ignore God’s judgment on our lives. That is a very negative thought, and we have many preaching “God is love and will never punish people ”. That is not what Jesus is pointing to in this passage. There will be a difference, and we need to understand that. God desires we all accept His Son, but humans do have a choice whether to follow Jesus or not.
