Luke 22: 24-30- Service is a Byproduct of Faith

Read Luke 22: 24- 30- This is another example of Jesus wanting to make sure they understand that service is a key to following Him. We live in a society that values position in society and leadership of key organizations, but Jesus wants to us to know the importan ce of service. We need to understand how important service is in Christian principles. Jesus wants us to not only serve but look for opportunities to serve others. In doing this, we prom ote our testimony of Jesus Christ and how we value what Jesus has done for us. Jesus told the disciples, (26) “But not so among you; on the contrary, he who is greatest among you, let him be as the younger, and he who governs as he who serves.” We do need to understand our service is not going to get us into heaven. We need to make the clear distinction our belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of our lives is what g ives us eternal life. Our desire to serve is the byproduct of and how we testify of Jesus Christ.    Proverb...

Mark 9: 38-41- Doing Work in Jesus' Name

Mark 9: 38- 41-   (38) Now John answered Him, saying “Teacher, we saw someone who does not follow us casting out demons in Your name and we forbade him because he does not follow us.” (39)  But Jesus said, “Do not forbid him, for no one who works a miracle in My name can soon afterward speak evil of me. (40)  For he who is not against us in on our side. (41) For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink in My name, because you belong to Christ, assuredly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward.”   Jesus was developing  a large number of  followers and some of those followers were working to do Christ’s work. The disciples thought they were the select few who should be do ing the work. Jesus corrected them. Christians today  have a tendency to  do the same type of thing.  I might think one activity is not something I might do but  the motivation is direct others to Christ, then I need to understand that. The key thing is whethe...

Matthew 20: 23-28- Service and Servanthood

Read Matthew 20: 2 3-28-   This passage from Jesus is one of the pillars of Christian belief. Jesus was showing the disciples  how they needed to learn what was important spiritually and how they needed to change how they thought about spiritual leadership.  Jesus was teaching all of us  how to spiritually lead  in verses 26, 27 and 28 ,  “It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great  a mong you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among yo u must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”   Serving other people does not come naturally to many of us.  We  have to  learn not only how to serve but we  must learn to look for opportunities where service is needed. Jesus is showing us  we not only should serve  others,  but that service will sometimes cost us something.   We must remember we need to incorporate this...
