Luke 23: 13-25- Defending Christ

Read Luke 23: 13-25- Pilate began to lobby the spiritual leaders of the time on Jesus’ behalf. Twice he spoke to the religious leaders that Jesus had done nothing to deserve the scorn He was receiving and Jesus certainly did not deserve to be killed. Verse 14 says, ‘(14) ....said to them, “you have b rought this Man to me, as one who misleads the people. And indeed, hav ing examined Him in your presence, I have found no fault in this Man concerning those things of which you accuse Him.”’ As Christians, we are the ones who should be standing up courageously for Jesus Christ. Pilate did not have to worry about whether people agreed with him or not. As believing Christians, we need to make sure we are the ones defending our faith in Jesus Christ regardless of who the crowd may be and regardless of what risk there may be. We need to think about the level of courageousness that may be demanded of us and are we prepared to speak boldly for Christ.   Proverbs 17: 13 - Wh...

Mark 15: 1-14- The Evil of Leaders

Read Mark 15: 1- 14-  Jesus' march to death continued through this passage. We see the  chief priests and religious leaders acting out of fear and envy. Verses 11 through 14 show us their devious natures, ‘ (11) But the chief priests stirred up the crowd, so that he should  rather release  Barrabas to them. (12) Pilate answered and said to them again, “What then do you want me to do with  Him whom you call the King of the Jews?” (13)  So,  they cried out again, “Crucify Him!” (14) the Pilate said to them, “Why, what evil has He done?” Bu t  they cried out  all the more , “C rucify Him!”’   This is a passage that   brings to mind  the evil surrounding the treatment of Jesus. I also  know this was what God had planned  in order to  bring redemption of sins for me. In my human mind, I want to wish there  was  an easier way for God  to have Jesus be our redemption, but this was His plan, all designed ...

Matthew 27: 15-25- Measuring Our Words

Read Matthew 27: 15- 25-   The chief priests and elders knew they had an opportunity to  be rid of Jesus. They knew in their hearts that Jesus was a threat to their positions .  So,  they brought Jesus to  Pilate,  but  Pilate was a politician and was working for a way to skirt the issue .   Even  Pilate’s wife told him he need to stay away from the situation because there was no fault in Jesus and she had even had dreams about the situation.  Verse s  24  and 25  says,  ‘When Pilate saw that he could not prevail at all, but rather that a tumult was rising, he took water and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, “I am innocent of the blood of this just Person. You see to it. ”  (25) And all the people  answered  and said, “His blood be on us and on our children.”’   The multitude had no idea what they were saying .   To  accept the killing of Jesus and then include thei...
