Luke 4: 16-21- "Today Scripture is Fulfilled"
Read Luke 4: 16-21- Jesus went into the temple in Nazareth and read from Isaiah. Verses 18 and 19 are actually from Isaiah and Jesus read this, “(18) The spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted. To proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set a liberty those who are oppressed; (19) to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.” Then Jesus said one more huge thing to the people listening. In verse 21 we read, “And He began to say to them, ‘Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.’” Jesus told the people that day He was the Messiah. If we wonder about Jesus and His mission, we know He came as a ransom or sacrifice for each of us. He also fulfilled all that was written so many years before by Isaiah. Proverbs 12: 11- He who tills his land will be satisfied with bread, but he who follows frivolity is devoid of understanding.
