Matthew 19: 16-30- An Eternal Focus
Read Matthew 19: 16-30- Jesus is continuing to teach the disciples about spiritual priorities in life. Jesus knew we would be captured mentally and emotionally by the tangible things of this world. He wanted us to see how important the spiritual side of our lives are. Jesus shared this in verses 20, 21, and 22, ‘The young man said to Him, “All these I have kept. What do I still lack?” Jesus aid to him, “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” When the young man heard this, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possession.’ Jesus is wanting us to get our priorities straight . He wants us focused on our eternities and not on what the next great financial accomplishment will be. This is a lesson that is hard for many and requires some diligent attention and commitment.
