Thoughts From the Bible

Read Luke 21: 5-1 9 -   Jesus is continuing to speak of the state of the world prior to His return, and He speaks of the persecution Christians will see prior to His return. Verse 12 tells us, "But before all these th ings, they will lay hands on you and persecute you delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons. You will be brought before kings and rules for My name's sake."  This is happening now in our world. Especially in several African nations and in China, C hristians are routinely persecuted, placed in prison or killed. This is something that does not get much publicity, but it is happening routinely in several areas. We need to not forget our Christians brothers and sisters who are enduring much for their faith in Christ and pray for them consistently. Jesus also says He will give those persecuted Christians the strength they need to testify of Him. Matthew 5:10-   “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” We live in a world where there is a good and there is also evil. There are those who rebel against God and then they take that opposition to God a step further and begin to persecute those who believe in God. Today that persecution is seen along a continuum that ranges from ignoring Christians and making sure they are omitted from situations that all should have access to killing believers in Jesus Christ.  There are leg islators who work to oppose basic Biblical principles and there are people in some countries who actively seek out Christians to do them great bodily harm, even kill them. Jesus knew this would happen.  Jesus is telling us that all Jesus has will be given to those who are persecuted for His sake.   We need to understand there is open opposition to the things of God in our world, and it is our responsibility to uphold those Biblical pr...
