Mark 4: 35-41- Peace, Be Still

Read Mark 4: 35-41-   If there was ever any doubt as to who Jesus really was, this short event in scripture should have told the disciples without any question. Verses 39 through 41 says, “And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace, be still.” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? Have you no faith?” And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”  When we hear someone say Jesus is Lord of the universe, this passage is an example of what all that means. Jesus is capable of containing the weather, something man can only talk about but cannot do anything about. Not only can Jesus control the weather, but He is capable of controlling the spirit when He says to us, “Peace, be still.” For me, I see the Lord of the universe in this passage of scripture, but I also see the Lord of my heart in that He will calm my soul just as He can calm th...

Matthew 11: 1-6- Who Are You?

Read Matthew 11: 1- 6- John the Baptist wanted to know what was going on. He sent his disciple to ask a very simple question, “Are you the Messiah?” Jesus was doing things no one was cap a ble of doing and things that pointed directly to him being the Messiah. In verses 4 through 6, ‘And Jesus answered them, “Go and tell John what you hear and see: the blind receive their sight and the lame walk, lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them. And bles sed is the one who is not offended by me.”’ That last sentence is important to me. He would bless those people who accepted Him and accepted His message.  People need to hear this today. Jesus has promised to make our lives better if we believe in Him and live according to His principles. It does n ot mean life will all be peaches and cream, but it does mean Jesus will be there to help us through those times. Many times, that blessing will be peace in our souls.

Matthew 5: 9- The Peacemakers

Matthew 5:9-  “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” How many people do you know who consider themselves peacemakers? The reason I ask that question is because our society needs more peacemakers. There appears to be growing strife in our society and polarization between different groups of people . There is conflict within families. Peace is something we need in our worlds and we need it in our souls.   The Holy Spirit will provide us with the words to say and the actions to take to help us become peacemakers in the span of influence we have.  This is another thing Jesus would have us be a ware because we will not always know when we need to step into the role of peacemaker.  This is not always an easy task to achieve but it is obviously one of great importan ce since Jesus is making it part of his message to all of us in how we should live our lives. This element of Christianity will serve everyone well but also requires continuous ...

John 14: 27-30- Peace of Mind and Heart

Read  John 14: 27-30- There are times when I think about how many people in the world today refused to acknowledge God as described in the Bible even exists. They talk of religion being a crutch for weak people. These people may promote the ideas the Christian religion is a fantastic fantasy many people believe and there is no proof there is a God and certain no recognized proof Jesus was the Son of God. When faith in God is exercised, one begins to understand the reality of the presence of God and the gifts God provides to those who do believe. Jesus said this, “I am leaving you with a gift, peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” I ask you, can the gift of peace of mind and heart be underestimated in the world we live in 2023? God provides the spiritual peace of mind and heart that gives us the confidence to live our lives as God would have us live. Is believing in God a crutch? I see my bel...
