Matthew 4: 12-17- Would I Have Believed?

Read Matthew 4:12-17-

One of the key points in this short passage is John the Baptist being arrested.  Another key point is Jesus beginning His ministry and how His movements at that time actually fulfilled prophecy. Then there is this verse, ‘From that time Jesus began to preach saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”’

The question I ask myself is this, would I have believed Jesus? If I lived at the time of Jesus and heard John the Baptist and saw Jesus, would I have turned from the traditional Jewish beliefs or, as a Gentile, would I have begun to follow Jesus.

We have had people rise to positions of spiritual influence and many people followed their teaching even though their beliefs were not Bible-based. I thank God I was raised in a church that preached Biblical principles, so I had a foundation to trust in God and believe what Jesus preached.

We need to be working to provide that type of foundation for others around us.  We all have a mission.
