Matthew 7: 3-5- Hypocrisy
Matthew 7: 3-5-
How quick are we to criticize other people? In our day and time, that is a full-time activity for some people. So many people are ready to give advice to those they think have messed up their lives or the lives of other people around them.
Jesus cautioned us to not be so quick to criticize for a very good reason. In verses 3 through 5, Jesus says, “Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.”
Jesus wants us to be sensitive to how we are living our own lives, and He wants us to be sensitive to our own issues. If we are working with the help of the Holy Spirit to be better in our lives and correct or own issues, we will not be so quick to jump on the criticism bandwagon about other people. Most of us have enough to do to work on ourselves than to spend time trying to work out other people’s perceived issues.
