Matthew 15: 1-9- What's My Motive
Read Matthew 15: 1-9-
Jesus is challenging the religious leaders on what they teach versus how they live their lives. Sometimes they follow the Godly principles just when it is convenient. Jesus called their hand on this in verses 7 through 9, ‘You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, when he said: “This people honor me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.”’
I continually challenge myself on what my motives are when I am doing things or even thinking things in relationship to other people. Am I doing this because I know it is a Godly principle or am I doing something because it will make me look good? We live in a complicated world, and I find myself challenging my own motives so I will not only be doing the right thing but doing the right thing for the right reason.
Am I advancing God’s kingdom or am I advancing my reputation?
