Matthew 17: 1-8- "...listen to Him."

Read Matthew 17: 1-8-

These verses describe a scene we would expect to see in a movie. This was something no one would have ever dreamed of, but it did serve a purpose. Verse 5 says, ‘He was still speaking when, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to Him.”

That is what the disciples needed to see and hear. Their belief in Jesus as the Messiah was solidified but then they were given a directive. Listen to Him. That needs to be my directive also, listen to Him. Again, another note from the Bible that tells me to focus on what Jesus had to say and work to incorporate His principles in my life. For me, to listen means to absorb what I hear and assimilate it into my mind. There will be times in this life when I will need to be able to quickly recall what I have assimilated.

My lesson for today, “...listen to Him.”
