Matthew 20: 17-19- Jesus' Prophecy
Matthew 20: 17-19- ‘And as Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, He took the twelve disciples aside, and on the way, He said to them, “See, we are going up to Jerusalem. And the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn Him to death and deliver Him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified, and He will be raised on the third day.”’
I read this passage and stopped and wondered what I would have thought if I had been there and Jesus had told me He would die and then rise from the dead. I think I would have been speechless initially. I would hope I would then remember Lazarus and know Jesus would do exactly as He said. The miracles the disciples had seen were numerous, more than we know and I would want to believe every word Jesus said. Hearing Jesus say He would be killed however, would definitely give anyone reason to pause and wonder about the whole situation.
As I go through my daily activities, I want to remember Jesus did as He said. He did rise from the dead. He did come to love all of us, and I then must believe He did leave to prepare a place for all of us. This is the reassurance of the power of God.
