Matthew 21: 33-46- Bearing Fruit

Read Matthew 21: 33-46-

Jesus continued to talk to the religious leaders and used the story in this passage to show them how this conflict between them and Him would end. Jesus knew it was important for them to hear this from Him, and it was important for the people to see how the religious leaders responded. Jesus was also showing them how their situation at that time fit with prophecy.

Verses 42 and 43 says, ‘Have you never read in the Scriptures: “The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; this was the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes’? Therefore, I tell you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people producing its fruits.’

I never thought I would want to be grouped with tax collectors and prostitutes but in this context, that is the place I would prefer to be. Jesus saw those “undesirables” who accepted Him and were bearing fruit as better than the religious leaders who were more concerned about their positions and their control and power. The other thought I had is where Jesus noted who was bearing fruit for His kingdom were the ones who would find favor with Him. I want to focus on what Jesus would consider a fruitful life and let the other elements of life that are selfish to fall away.
