Matthew 24: 3-14- Love Growing Cold
Read Matthew 24: 3-14 (Again!)-
There is another thought Jesus spoke to the disciples about that I think has great application to our society today. One thing that populates our news every day is the random acts of violence that occur throughout society. Social media is full of videos of people being violent and/or yelling and screaming at others. People are getting physically beaten, property is being destroyed or stolen, and it is easy to want to retaliate.
Jesus said this in verses 12 through 14, “And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”
As Christians, Jesus has told us to continue to love those whose love has grown cold. We are not to be the ones allowing our love for others to grow cold. This does not mean those committing violence and crimes should not face penalties of the law, but it does mean we have an obligation to pray for these situations in society both for society and for our response to them.
Again, we do not want our love for others to grow cold.
