Mark 1: 1-3- More Voices in the Wilderness
Mark 1: 1-3- ‘The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. As it is written in Isaiah the prophet, “Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way, the voice of one crying in the wilderness; ‘Prepare the way of the Lord, make His paths straight,’”’
As I begin to slowly look at the book of Mark, I want to take Mark’s writing and examine it and how it may apply to me today. Mark began by citing the writing of Isaiah as a prophecy. Isaiah mentioned “the voice of one crying in the wilderness...”. As I watch the daily news and read about what is happening around the world, one could claim we still need that voice crying in the wilderness to prepare for Jesus’ return to earth. There is so much distress and conflict. People need to know Jesus will return as He said.
I need to be one of many voices crying in the wilderness in our world today. As I read about the events of this life, I also need to know I can lean on the Holy Spirit for peace in my own life. There are many pockets where the power of the Holy Spirit is being seen and recognized, so there is still much hope in this world. I need to consistently remind myself Jesus will return and He will provide the world the peace that so many say they want to see. Much will happen before the peace of God reigns, but I need to assume the responsibility of being one of the many voices in the wilderness.
Proverbs 2: 4-5 “...if you see it (wisdom) like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.”
