Mark 6: 36-44- Prayers of Thanksgiving
Read Mark 6: 36-44-
This is one of the famous stories of the Bible where Jesus feeds the people who have come to hear what He had to say. Jesus saw the bigger picture of what the people needed and used the situation to teach the disciples. In verse 41 it is written, ‘And taking the five loaves and the two fish, He looked up to heaven and said a blessing and broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples to set before the people. And He divided the two fish among them all.’
Many of us pray before we eat and that history of saying a prayer or blessing over meals goes back to Jesus taking the time to say a blessing before he performed the miracle and fed the people with so little. For me, this is a good reminder to thank God for providing for me. Whether a little or a lot, it is a simple sign of being grateful for what I do have. I don’t pray that God will vastly multiply what I have, I simply offer a thanksgiving prayer for what is in my hands. I need to continue to look for opportunities every day to give a prayer of thanksgiving to God.
Proverbs 6: 12-15- (12) A worthless person, a wicked man, goes about with crooked speech, (13) winks with his eyes, signals with his feet, points with his finger, (14) with perverted heart devises evil, continually sowing discord; (15) therefore calamity will come upon him suddenly; in a moment he will be broken beyond healing.
