Mark 10: 1- The Multitudes of Followers
Mark 10: 1- Then He arose from there and came to the region of Judea by the other side of the Jordan. And multitudes gathered to Him again, as he was accustomed. He taught them again.
I think there is an interesting point in this one verse that I do not think is discussed much when people teach or preach on Jesus’ life and ministry. There are many times when the authors mention “multitudes” who followed Jesus. I know I have thought about why the religious leaders were so against what Jesus was doing and teaching. Much of what He had to say was somewhat contrary to how the religious leaders were living their lives.
Thinking about this, it was probably the multitudes who were following Jesus that really concerned the religious leaders. Jesus had more than just twelve men following Him. There were multitudes. I know it is hard to know what multitudes would actually mean in real numbers, but I would assume is had to be in the thousands and not the hundreds. Jesus was impacting the lives of thousands of people. I need to better realize the religious leaders were ready to kill Jesus because thousands of people saw Jesus for who He really is, the Son of God. For me, this is giving me a greater impact of Jesus’ history here on earth.
Proverbs 9: 12- If you are wise, you are wise for yourself. And if you scoff, you will bear it alone.
