Mark 12: 18-27- Life Embedded in the Scriptures
Read Mark 12: 18-27-
Jesus works through this hypothetical brought to Him by some Sadducees. Jesus tried to get them to see beyond their hypothetical situation and paint a small picture of heaven while getting them to focus on God rather than the law. Verses 25, 26 and 27 say, “For when they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven. (26) But concerning the dead, that they rise have you not read in the book of Moses in the burning bush passage, how God spoke to him saying, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?’ (27) He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living. You are therefore greatly mistaken.”
Many people like to say religion is just a series of do’s and don’ts. Those individuals are no different from the Sadducees. Most of the time, those people are only focused on what they can criticize. They are not looking at the life that is embedded in all the scripture regarding a life dedicated to loving God and being loved in return. They miss the part of relationship with God, and they miss the realization of reverence and awe of the God of the universe. This dedication to God minimizes the impact and the importance of the do’s and don’ts.
Proverbs 10: 17- He who keeps instruction is in the way of life, but he who refuses correction goes astray.
