Mark 13: 1-6- Do Not Be Deceived

Read Mark 13: 1-6-

Jesus spoke of the destruction of the temple to the disciples. After that, He began to more about the future. In verses 5 and 6 is an important lesson for me. “(5) And Jesus, answering them, began to say, ‘Take heed that no one deceive you. (6) For many will come in My name, saying, “I am He”, and will deceive many.”

We do not have a number of people coming out today and saying they are the Messiah. We do have a good number of people who claim to be prophets of God. Those individuals need to tread very carefully. We also need to examine them closely. We have the definitive advantage of taking a Bible in our hands and knowing what God expects of us. Too many Christians allow themselves to be connected to the personality of a spiritual leader and that can be risky. We are seeing the failures of spiritual leaders almost every day. We see them admitting to sins they have heartily preached about for years.

We need to make sure we are enamored with the Word God has given us and not become dependent on individuals.

Proverbs 10: 21- The lips of the righteous feed many, but fools die for lack of wisdom.

Matthew 4: 23-25- Principles and Works

Matthew 4: 23- 25- ‘And He went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction among the people. So, His fame spread throughout all Syria, and they brought him all the sick, those afflicted with various diseases and pains, those oppressed by demons, those having seizures, and paralytics, and he healed them. And great crowds followed Him from Galilee and the Decapolis, and from Jerusalem and Judea, and from beyond the Jordan.’ Jesus has made Himself known to the people at this point and He did this in a way that showed all that only the Messiah could do the things He was doing.  As a people we are all so i ntrigued by great works of people.  What we need to focus on is what is listed first in the passage.   Jesus was teaching and proclaiming the gospel of God to everyone. We need to watch ourselves and listen more to what the Holy Spirit may be saying through the Bible and Jes...

Matthew 8: 22-27- How Big is My God?

Read Matthew 8: 22- 27- This is a common passage many preachers like to talk about when it comes to life’s trials.  In verses 26 and 27 Jesus said this, ‘And He said to them, “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Then He rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. And the men marveled, saying, “What sor t of man is this, that even winds and sea obey Him.”’ I ask myself this question today, “How little is my faith?” The disciples asked why sort of man is this . I need to ask myself what sort of man is this ?   I need to be asking how big is my God? When life’s issues arise, I need to realize Jesus Christ is much bigger than my issues. I need to believe Jesus Christ will be helping me through these issues and I need to allow His peace to work through me in those situations. We do not fully realize how big our God is.

John 6: 22-59- What's My Motivation?

Read   John 6: 22-59-       There is so much in this section of the book.   I think verses 22 through 27 address the motivation of the people.   As a way of immediately getting their attention, He calls them out.   (26) Jesus replied, “The truth is, you want to be with me because I fed you, not because you saw the miraculous sign.” That tells me the people were looking for a free lunch.   It maybe they were extremely poor and did not know where their next meal was coming.   It maybe they were just looking for free food because they didn’t have anything better to do.   Who knows? Jesus knew what they did need to hear though.   (27) But you shouldn’t be so concerned about perishable things like food.   Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that I, the Son of Man, can give you. For God the Father has sent me for that very purpose.”        There are times when people want t...
