Luke 4: 16-30-

Read Luke 4:16-30-

Jesus declared in the temple who He was before the religious leaders there. He was not finished. He then basically prophesied how these very people would not accept Him. In verse 24 it says, "Then He said, 'Assuredly, I say to you no prophet is accepted in his own country.'" He then called them out for not assisting widows when they had the opportunity and the religious leaders became so incensed they took Him out to cast Him off a cliff.

This is a fairly dramatic response to having their hands slapped for not being good Jews. It is important we know the words of Jesus will anger some people because of the guilt it produces within them. This is a common response when many people are called out for their aberrant behavior. We need to closely examine what we do and how we respond to situations and then accept correction if we behavior inappropriately in a given situation.

Proverbs 12:12-13- The wicked covet the catch of evil men, but the root of the righteous yields fruit. (13) The wicked is ensnared by the transgression of his lips, but the righteous will come through trouble.
