Luke 5: 33-35- Fasting

Luke 5: 33-35-

Jesus gives us a short lesson about fasting in these few verses. '(33) Then they said to Him, "Why do the disciples of John fast often and make prayers, and likewise those of the Pharisees, but Yours eat and drink?" (34) And He said to them, "Can you make the friends of the bridegroom fast while the bridegroom is with them? (35) But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them; then they will fast in those days."'

Fasting is an activity designed for us to focus on God and a specific thing in our lives that we need God's hand to help us. The disciples of Jesus did not need to fast because Jesus, the Son of God, was with them in the present. Fasting is not magical, but it is a way for us to deliberately call on God's help for our lives.

Proverbs 11:25- The generous soul will be made rich, and he who waters will also be watered himself.
