Luke 8: 19-21- This is Inclusion
Luke 8: 19- 21- Then His mother and brothers came to Him and could not approach Him because of the crowd. (20) And it was told Him by some, who said, “Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, desiring to see You.” (21) But He answered and said to them, “My mother and my brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it.”
I do not believe Jesus was denying his association with His family. Jesus was again using the situation to give a lesson to those listening. Jesus’ family is those who believe Him to be the Son of God. In an age of much talk about inclusion, Jesus is showing how people can be included in His family. Accepting Him and living by His principles immediately makes a person part of Jesus’ family and with that association comes someone who will always be there for us when there are needs in our lives.
Proverbs- 13:3 – He who guards his mouth preserves his life, but he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction.
