Luke 13: 1-5- Repentance

Read Luke 13: 1-5-

Jesus began teaching the people about repentance and the gravity of their sins. Verses one through three say this, ‘There were present at that season some who told Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. (2) And Jesus answered and said to them, “Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans, because they suffered such things? (3) I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.”’

Jesus is teaching the people about their sinful behavior and their need to repent of those sins. We sometimes want to compare our sins to the sins of others and then convince ourselves we are not that bad. Jesus is wanting us to more clearly see our sins or better yet, recognize our sins and repent so we can remove that obstacle between us and Him. This is what repentance will do for us, it will draw us closer to Jesus and therefore, closer to His love for us.

Proverbs 15: 2- The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly, but the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness.
