Luke 14: 34-35- Being Salt in Life

Luke 14: 34-35- "(34) Salt is good; but if the salt has lost its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? (35) It is neither fit for the land nor for the dunghill, but men throw it out. He who has ears to hear, let him hear."

Salt was the great preservative of the time. Salt allowed people to save food for a later time.  Salt also provided a sense of flavor to food that probably needed a whole lot more than just salt. The people of that time knew the power of salt.

Jesus used this common knowledge to make sure the people understood they needed to work to preserve their testimony of Him. They needed to practice their faith every day. They needed to see themselves as something that was good in the lives of other people. If people did not work to be in that position, Jesus is reminding them what happens when salt loses its flavor. It gets thrown out.

We preserve our faith through prayer, worship, studying the Bible and living our faith every day.

Proverbs 15: 16- Better is a little with the fear of the Lord, than great treasure with trouble.
