Luke 16: 14-17- Receiving the Whole Scripture

Read Luke 16: 14-17-

Jesus again confronts the Pharisees and the motivation of their hearts not being concerned about the people's spiritual health but the health of their own pocketbooks. Jesus did show a spiritual shift in what he said in verse 16. "(16) The law and the prophets were until John. Since that time the kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone is pressing into it. (17) And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one tittle of the law to fail."

As we read through the Bible, we do not see Jesus saying to disregard the law and listen only to what John the Baptist and He has to say. He is saying there is more to the kingdom of God since the preaching and teaching of John the Baptist and Himself. He was instructing the Pharisees to listen to what He had to say and the directions for living Christ was giving. This is one reason we are to respect and consider all the Bible has to offer us because it is justified through Jesus' words and His life.

Proverbs 15: 23- A man has joy by the answer of his mouth, and a word spoken in due season, how good it is.
