Luke 17: 11-19- Thanking God
Read Luke 17: 11-19-
Jesus was approached by 10 lepers and asked to be healed. Jesus told them to show themselves to the priests. When they did, they were healed because they believed in Jesus and did as He told them. One of the lepers returned to Jesus to express his thanks and glorified God for his healing. Jesus then gives us a lesson of appreciation. In verse 17 Jesus says, 'so Jesus answered and said, Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? (18) Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?" (19) And He said to him, "Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well."'
All the lepers had faith they would be healed when they were calling out to Jesus. One came back to Jesus to express his joy and appreciation. We need to be like this single leper. We need to always remember to thank God for His grace to us. This should be a daily state of mind for us because we owe God so much, even if it is simply the air we have been given to breathe.
We all have something to thank God for regardless of our circumstances. We need to develop this approach of thanking God for all He has done for us and then take it one step further by remembering to thank people around us who bless us in one way or the other.
Proverbs 15:28- The heart of the righteous studies how to answer, but the mouth of the wicked pours forth evil.
