Luke 21: 5-8- False Prophets

Read Luke 21: 5-8-

Jesus is talking with the disciples and prophesizes the temple in Jerusalem would be destroyed. They wanted to know when this would happen. Jesus then starts to instruct them in verse 8 about His return and things that will be happening. Verse 8 says, 'And He said, "Take heed that you not be deceived. For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am He', and 'The time has drawn near.' Therefore, do not go after them."

This is a viable word for us today. There are many people who are declaring themselves as the real authorities on the interpretation of the Bible and working to fit the Bible into what they want the Bible to say. They are working diligently to find ways to construe different things in the Bible to justify their own personal sins. We have spiritual leaders denying certain things plainly written in the Bible and saying it does not apply today. There are even those who are choosing to rewrite the Bible and leave out certain passages they disagree with.

I believe I need to take the Bible and what God has ordained in this total work and accept it for what it is. I may not like everything I read because of my own sin but as a believer in Christ, I must accept the consistent message that is presented in the Bible.

Proverbs 16: 21- The wise in heart will be called prudent, and sweetness of the lips increases learning.
